a good week this week saw me pass the 3,000 km barrier for 2011. Bank Holiday Monday and we were off to my sister in Salfords but i took the opportunity to ride there and gain a sneaky 25km Back to work and cycle commuting Tuesday and I felt good so I also rode in Wednesday which is normally my rest day. Thursday morning and the legs were a little stiff but after a slow start I got chatting to one of my cycle commuting buddies (full Pearson Cycles kit). He is pretty fast and I was dragged along once I had warmed up around Balham. The commute home saw me pass the 3,000km. This morning saw me feeling still fresh so I rode in again to make it 5 days on the bounce and take me to my current total of 3,107km

The miles are rolling by and I'm now only 174 km behind my target, that's just 3 day's commute.
Unfortunately I'm on the train tomorrow and in Geneva on Friday so the target will rack up again but I thought it was worth noting...

Chin up Muddy! You can have a few of my miles if you want. At my current rate I'll be a couple hundred miles OVER target by the time I finish up here... ;D

Been commuting four days a week for ages now and that deficit (see top right) is coming right down; less than 100k now

Well done Muddy...after missing 4 weeks in April and May, I'm now trying to make up for it. 500km done last week and so far 131km this week has made a big dent in the deficit , but Im still 500km behind

Borrowed a mates TCT 5000 road bike on Monday and smashed my PB to work. Average of 19.3mph door to door! I had to give it back as it was far too addictive. Back on the tank (steel fixie) and the calm of the universe has been restored. Another milestone passed - 2500 miles. Done.

So much for being cocky and easily making my target.
After last night's smash, it looks iffy whether I'll make it. Could well be looking for a new road bike too. Not cool.

Oh dear. You ok though?
Had a Tesco driver pull across in front of me this morning, not fun. Then I saw he was using a mobile phone, so a report will be going in (have video too).

Tell me it wasn't you on a black bike in Tooting? I saw a guy on the ground with a truly mullered bike and now i think of it he had similar features to you, well the top of your head anyway. I didn't stop as Police were already there....

Yes it was me. Two FUBAR'd wheels, a twisted fork and general buggery to the bike. All stripped down today and should be workable tomorrow some-time. Three frikkin' days off work and loads of drugs do not make Rich a happy boy. At least the headache is getting less intruding. Pity the shoulder won't let me lift my arm above 45 degrees right now.
Anyhoo, could be a lot worse. Seems they built them strong in SA...

Well gents, I've missed my target by a handful of miles. It appears too many crashes, a limited supply of MTFU and some extremely close "near-misses" have made me a bit of a burd. Not to worry. When my gear arrives down under I'll be taking the challenge to the Aussies . WOnder if they've even heard of SCR...

After the training week in Tuscany and the L2P race, riding more than 1100km in 2 weeks sees me blow throw 5000km's and now I'm 340 km in CREDIT :-) All that and I didn't even ride at all in April. im happy with that and hope I can keep it up
I only need to ride 25 km a day now to make the 10000km annual target. Shoudl be easy , but then there is always Oct/Nov and December
So my plan is to ride as much as I can in the next 3 month

A wet horrible Sutton to Brighton with Luca ( my son on his forst serious outing ) has me break the 6000 km barrier way ahead of schedule and I'm currently running a surplus of nearly 600 km.
With a bit of luck I should make my annual target this year
Did I meantion that S2B was horrible,,,truely horrible

A 320 km week brings my riding above 8000 km for the year. After the bad weather that was predicted for this Sunday, it actually turned out to be a very pleasant day to ride ....apart from that very strong wind.
I'm now 1073 km ahead of my current target, so can relax a bit on those cold wintery days, when one doesn't feel like riding !!
111 days left to ride 1968km or about 18km per day. But I think I will make use of every warmish day and get the rest out of the way as soon as possible

nice one Cas. I cycle commuted five days this week (180 miles or 288 km) and then rode down to Bognor Regis yesterday to take me to 7,500 km which is 556km ahead of target.

Nice one Richard. Looks like its just the two of us , but we will soldier on.
I recon commute miles are harder , as all mine are quality miles with mostly good weather and nice scenery. However the rides themselves are probably harder as they are local rides and thus contain more climbs
Loosk like we will easily meet our target this year, so we better set them even higher next year :-)

I recon commute miles are harder , as all mine are quality miles with mostly good weather and nice scenery. However the rides themselves are probably harder as they are local rides and thus contain more climbs Oh, I dunno, I have my moments. Like last Friday f’rinstance. I had ridden all five days and had ‘bonked’ on the ride home on Thursday evening. But there I was again Friday morning feeling good. A strong headwind on the way home was giving me a hard time until Alistair and Rob approach me on my six. They live in Sutton and are a couple of guys (but not a ‘couple’) who I have got to know purely through commuting. I told them I was feeling the strain against the headwind and so they said to jump onto their tail to get the slipstream. I instantly gained 7 or 8 mph and we were steaming along when another rider that I have got to know through my commute, Greg, pulls alongside at some traffic lights. I do the swift introductions and all of a sudden there’s a four-man peloton flying south along Cycle Superhighway 7 sweeping all and sundry before them. We did this for about 6 miles before I lost the first two in some heavy traffic near a set of lights and then said my farewells to Greg who takes an alternative route home at Clapham. But anyway, I have cycle-commuted 104 days this year so that is ‘only’ 6,032 km of my 7, 500 km this year to date. I do other miles as well like my ride to Bognor/Pagham this weekend!

I passed 8,000km for the year yesterday. Not bad as I didn't manage that until December 31st 2010 last year. 700km ahead of schedule

A few rounds around RP gets me past 9000
Less than a 1000 to go with 85 days left. On paper that looks easy. 11.5 km a day :-)

and I'm just two weeks behind you as I passed the 9,000 km mark this morning on the way into work after another 5 days cycle commuting week.
(Admittedly being two weeks behind you would be no good if we were riding the Tour but as 9,000 km is equivalent to 2 TDF's then I'm happy enough).
Roll on the next 1,000 and as we discussed the other week what target do we set ourselves for next year?
