Years back when I first moved here I did a ride with some Diarists from The Star near Chessington. We started in Princes Covert and I think we looped out to Effingham. With the yucky weather I'd like to do this route again. Can anyone post up a loop that involves as much sand as possible please.

I remember doing that ride. It headed out across the common (Crown Land as I remember ) and continued towards Cobham under the A3 and along to Oxshot and the Wisley jump area. I don't have a route I'm afraid but could possibly remember some of it on a ride - maybe when I drag the MTB out again!

Really I'm just trying to justify buying a fat bike!

I'll take a look - thanks to Leed and some of my own explorations I know the area over there a bit. Was there much Tarmac involved ? Any other clues ?

Don't the moles ride over that way or at least that's why we started doing some of those rides (I never went on them so don't know). I did however ride that way with dialled Mike but that was way back in 2003 ish. Can't recall it being particularly sandy.

I shall explore and report back when I get some spare daylight hours as I've just bought this.

Nice, was that a whole bike or a self-build?

Thanks for the seat post sympathy! Complete bike off fat bike face book. Carbon forks 1 x 10 and drilled rims. I really didn't fancy drilling those. £500 was a good price I thought. Was also looking at a Dune but that would need better tyres and had a square taper BB. Can't imagine they are as easy to source as conventional ones. Only ridden it around the car park and it doesn't feel like the tyres weigh 1.8 kg each. Planning on a fossil hunting ride between Hastings and Winchelsea when the tide is out. The ride back on the road will be interesting! www.strava.com/segments/2670966There's a petrified prehistoric forest when the tide goes out. There's more to Hastings than druggies and freshly released murderers!
