I'm best man at a wedding back home on 9th July so your date are not going to work for me. Unless peeps are willing to consider new riding grounds in the Pyrenees? Defo a lot of exciting rides to do there but a lot less developed than the Morzine park, would be more natural trails, think TA's Destination-X Any thoughts?

What dates are you thinking of?

What dates are you thinking of? Well I was thinking first or second week of July again. So that's Saturday 2nd July or Saturday 9th July. However, it looks like Laurent isn't going to be around those weeks or needs to be in the Pyrenees so depends on interest really. Any earlier and you clash with the PDS and run the risk of the lifts not being open.

Yup or there's a standing invite back to see the boys at www.mtbspain.com too. Could be the answer if we want to go in March instead to avoid peak holiday season?

Great idea Richard. It will come as no surprise that I will be up for any of this, I just need to put a date in the diary so I can plan my "Travels" round the dates. So with this in mine an early decision on dates would be great. Spain in March would be nice and the weather should be pretty good. Saying that anything will be fine, just need the dates. www.mtbspain.com does look good. The overnight ferry crossing (23 hrs) to top of Spain would give the option of taking a car without the long drive. Having just done this it is all pretty relaxed. Cost wise Spain seems better value than France. I think you need to pick a selection (2/3) of dates Richard and see who wants to come.

I was thinking of flying rather than driving.

Ferry would be nice and relaxing but car+bikes+cabin make it just as expensive as flying if not more. Adding to that you lose two days of riding and there's still a massive drive from North west to south East of Spain.
Personally i would favour more of a gravity/lift assisted trip with minimum pedalling but could be swayed if the trails are epic. Muddy, how good was the riding there? i got the impression that Stevo and Batling were not in a hurry to go back...

The trails are great, didn't I bore you with enough videos? It's van and trailer assist rather than lift assist so it's a bit more like Destination X rather than Morzine. An enduro bike is perfect, you don't want a DH rig there as there are some ups although not many. You will rip through a set of tyres there's too, it's very rocky and hard on tyres. You will have to ask Adam and Steve their opinions but when we finished the week Adam was only put off by his brush with the canyon (and wasn't that the start of his annum horribilis?) and Steve was all Gung Ho and planning on becoming a guide for them. What happened since then is anyone's guess. Anyway, it's just a suggestion. www.pinkbike.com/video/398937/

Right then lads, this shit's about to get real. Here's a little taster from Morzine 2015, I first edited this on 28th July, yes almost five months ago and it's taken me since then to get it right. No, I've not been ironing out the creases, there's plenty of those still in there, it's just that my Adobe Premiere Elements v 8 stopped working properly (I could edit a movie but when I saved it the movie all went to shit). So here's my first ever edit using DaVinci Resolve, a super cool, free editor but really difficult to learn what file format to save it in. It's also a pain in the arse having to recreate a movie you've already spent lots of time on in another editor. www.pinkbike.com/video/431331/Let me know what you think. And so onto 2016, who is up for this? I have a few interested parties so it looks like we could have a group of four or five which is plenty enough to have fun on those very same trails you can see in the video. Dates planned are Saturday 2nd July to Saturday 9th July (possibly leaving Friday 1st July if driving overnight). Self-catering and self-guiding , Destination Morzine and the Porte du Soleil area (includes Les Lindarets, Les Gets, Chatel, Swiss National downhill baby, Avoriaz et al) all for the price of one lift pass which gives you access to 20 lifts. 29 weeks to go...

Thinking of various options, might be tagging along and leave on friday 8th to go down to the Pyrenees (a good 900km away!) for my mate's wedding. That's assuming someone would be willing to look after my bike and take it back to the UK from Morzine? Or may fly to Geneva, hire a car and fly back from Toulouse, with bike. Questions, questions...

Would be great if we can get me, you and el terry again because firstly we know we can have a great time with the three of us and secondly we can commit and book somewhere right now and not worry about waiting for anyone else to commit.

Already bought an extra week of holiday at work but will need proper clearance from the other boss. Leave it with me, i'll have to pick the right moment to ask after a few xmas tipples, ho ho ho!

Heads up chaps; we have a quorum and are ready to book. Definites so far are: - Richard (me) - terry (El Tel) - dave (Green Orange Dave) and we have two possibles in James from the Muddy moles who would be travelling with dave and Fishybob666 who needs to sort out his best man duties. We also have another guy from Join-A-Ride who's name I forget at the moment but will be camping separately and joining us for the riding fun. So this is the last call before I book some accommodation - anyone else want to join the party? 24 weeks to go

I haven't contacted chalet people yet, was going to do this weekend although was planning self-catering again. Will be great if you can join us.

If any Muddy Moles/Join a ride peeps want to join then they would need to commit pronto so we can get final numbers The mate of a mate's mate won't qualify unless they pay a deposit of we'll have the same situation as last year
Personally, I'd go for the fully catered option but we need to make up numbers

okay, so we have five confirmed. Latest to confirm is epic, down there, a recent new member, muddy mole. - Richard (me) - terry (El Tel) - dave (Green Orange Dave) - epic (James from the Muddy moles) who will be travelling with dave- Fishybob666so that's more than enough to go ahead and book. I'm easy on self-catering or catered, Fishy prefers catered. Dave, James & Terry, what do you prefer? (if worried about cost it's roughly the same i.e. catered versus self-catering once you add in shopping costs for breakfast, lunch, dinner plus eating out costs when we can't be bothered to cook etc.)

actually, reading that again, catered only comes into play if we get 8. That's unlikely, so let's go self-catering. Fishy, can you do the honours please?
CHALET 1080
