I've entered the 100k route on this kentishkiller.ning.com/ if anyone fancies joining me? This has now been postponed until Feb 28th, because of the bad weather conditions. I'll still be doing it then...

No particular reason - wanted to get a fairly local, early-in the-year sportive in and Hell of the Ashdown was already sold out.
In general, I do think the slightly more competitive nauture of a sportive, even if only against oneself/the clock , plus not having to stop and navigate, does give sportives the edge in training terms, over just taking a similar-length bike ride.

I agree with the edge, just didn't see anything special in that route as i know the area well and can do it myself non stop. The steepest hill close to the route they are suggesting is " Kids Hill " and its not even included Never the less I would be interested in doing it with you, however don't want to commit so far ahead. If they still have spaces on the day and the weather is good I will join you Last year I did this with muddy , interesting route quite hilly and good fun....we can do it non stop or with a few short stops on a nice sunny day. What ever we do though we will be hard pushed to find say 125km with 2000 meters climb around us

Flix I might do this one - although am I being stupid - I can't see much info about where the start/route is?
I do find the whole Sportif stuff a great bit of rebranding. I have done these "reliability runs" for years and it's amazing there popularity now they are called Sportifs. It's excellent to see these so popular now.
They do need some cobbles for it to be the "Hell of". I don't think that there are many in Kent though!
