Anyone fancy a Lomac 9.30am start taking in…. Stane Street, Alsation, Up Hawks hill to Brocketts farm. Past the bottom of infestation to the Admiral track. Wiggley woods (over all the logs that the walkers have put down). Up past the YHA to Ranmore. Down land rover and back round under the train bridge to the railway farm. Up Pilgims way back to the top of Ranmore. Down NDW to the A24 cycle track. Past the back of Rykers to Juniper hill. Back up Stane street. Lomac finish.
Duration: 3 to 4 hour ride depending on stopping time + speed & size of group. Distance: Approx 20 miles + Weather forecast: Met shows sunny symbols at the moment (14th Jan).

Happy New Year to you and the Moles Beano. Instead of hindering us in wiggley woods the walkers seened to have created a fun obsticle course. ;D Hi Richard I've removed the offending route detail....just in case anyone (like yer' good self!) gets the wrong idea! Hi Cas, cheers for talking things up once again mate! Good to see you last week and good luck with your chosen career! Hope to see you Sunday Terry. Talking of weather here is a picture of the forcast out look from the Met web site.

Hi Lee, glad you can make it mate. The Met forecast is still looking good, as I've not been able to get out either running or cycling this week I went out for a quick Boxhill and Back via Stane street in the rain today. The trails still had some slippery slushy snow on the way to Boxhill which made things difficult. When I got to Boxhill it was still slushy up the the chalk track which made rear-wheel traction almost impossible on a couple of sections. However on the way back the rain was starting to wash it all away so hopefully things will be (unfortunately muddy) but less Slippery with a drop of sun to cheer us up!

No worries Richard, I hope you get out for a ride tomorrow (even if it's only a road ride with Cas! ;D ) and get a few miles in. Hopefully I'll see Terry, Lee, Andy and Steve (Who Muddy mentioned in a P.M.) who might join us for some off road miles.

Thanks to Terry, Lee, Keith and newcomer Steve for coming out on such a sunny day. The trails were in quite good condition which made for a good 20 mile approx ride. (Appologies to Keith I didn't manage to get a usable shot of you on the bike today!). Here are a few piccy's..... Keith, Lee, Steve and Terry in Ashtead near 30 acre barn. Terry and Steve close to Bocketts farm. Lee hacking down Landrover on the side of Ranmore. Terry Negotiating the rooty steps coming down Landrover. Steve cycling up pilgrims way with Whitedowns and Westcott in the distance. Wide screen shot of Keith, Steve, Lee and Terry cycling down ndw overlooking Denbees.

Cheers Terry hope to see you next weekend and Lee in a couple.
Hey Cas instead of 'LMRM' after my name could you have a word with the powers that be and get me a string of letters that sound a little better? ...something with a little more gravitas!

Really enjoyed the ride yesterday, thanks everyone especially Dave for all that blazing sunshine and putting together the "low mud route"....although judging by the state of me and my bike on arriving home I must have taken a different line to Terry Hope to be out again soon.

Hi Keith thanks for mentioning the Low Mud routes.
Yes low mud routes or ‘LMR’ is a winter initiative set up by Winter Off-road Bikers against Tarmac Syndrome or ‘WOMBATS’ to help some Mountain Bikers who suffer from Winter Associated Ride Tardiness Syndrome or ‘WARTS’ as it is better known.
Causes of Mountain Bikers suffering from WARTS are normally all weather related for example too much Rain. For some Mountain Bikers who really suffer badly with WARTS it can be the stress of too much Mud on the trails. WOMBATS may see fellow Mountain bikers suffering WARTS expressed through these usual symptoms… Colds and Man Flu, Road riding with their roadie mates, Acute Mechanical failure and Personal problems preventing them getting out for a ride or ‘CRAP’ for short.
However there is now a cure in the form of a set of actions that most riders suffering from WARTS can use to join the ranks of WOBATS out winter trail riding. These are… Forget about the rain, Use the trails what ever the weather, Cancel any road rides, Know that mud can be washed away.
In short to sum up….
Mountain bikers suffering from WARTS who don’t give a CRAP and don’t want to join a bunch of WOMBATS should stay in and F#@k instead.
