Haha. Just got back from the coast where Ive been for the last two days to see the new year in. I HAD to be back by lunchtime today to make sure I was ready for tomorow morning...
Still at least by the end of Jan Ill have been out on the bike a few times and lost a bit of weight making it easier for me :-)
End of Jan is no problems for me, and the effort you put into organising stuff like this does not go un-noticed Rich :-)
See you all soon :-)

Oh and Cas I bet your party was better than standing in the street being abused for trying to stop people getting crushed he he. Still it's the first year I have had to arrest someone up there on NYE most get off with a stern telling off and finger wagging.. perhaps im becoming less tolerant of scumbags that like to ruin it for the majority.....

Hi Rich,
Just a quick reminder that I am not around this weekend so will not be attending (was due to be going with the Moles on the Sunday). Many thanks for organising and good luck second time round!
Looking forward to picking up some second hand tips from you all when next out!
Cheers Keith.

Any of the folks on the Sunday session want to swap to Saturday?
Either way I'll be there, but Sunday will be much easier for me.

...the trails are currently boggy, glutinous mudfests and so another months delay may give them a chance to recover. Oh well - I guess you need more skills in the mud and wet, so it aint all bad. If this is on Muddy, can you reconfirm who is on for each day and who is on the reserve list please? I think I made it off the reserves and onto the Saturday list when Nem dropped out, but I'm not sure if this still stands... Cheers Dave

Nice one Thanks for confirming Muddy. I have completed and signed the form and it is in my car. Will either drop it by this evening or bring it along in the morning.

Just to confirm, the intended plan is still Holmbury St Mary YHA at 9:30am with lunch at the volunteer? Do you know what the expected finish time is?
Im slightly aprehensive because although Ive been cycling to work the last month, this is effectively the first 'return to riding' day after my health scare at the end of 2009 and I know im going to hurt.

I wouldn't worry about it Nick. I don't think it will be too intense physically - I expect there will be a lot of standing around and scratching of chins. Apparently it is recommended that we wear at least one extra layer because of this...

The sessions (Saturday and Sunday) will start from the car park adjacent to Holmbury St Mary YHA at 9:30am so please aim to get there with enough time to get geared up and your bikes ready. Address Radnor Lane Dorking Surrey RH5 6NW Holmbury is most easily accessed from the North. From the A25 turn South on to the B2126 at Abinger Hammer and look for a signposted right hand turn on the apex of a left-hand bend after about 1.6km. Bearing left follow the signs to the YHA and turn left just before you enter the YHA's grounds to find the public car park. maps.google.com/maps?client=safari&q=holmbury+st+mary+yha&oe=UTF-8&ie=UTF8&hl=en&hq=holmbury+st+mary+yha&hnear=&z=16&iwloc=ACourse programme 09:30-10:00 Introductions, equipment check and tea/coffee 10:00-13:00 Core skills session 13:00-14:00 Lunch (packed lunch or pub) 14:00-16:30 Singletrack skills session 16:30-17:00 Feedback, next steps and tea/coffee

Im slightly aprehensive because although Ive been cycling to work the last month, this is effectively the first 'return to riding' day We can go sit at the back together Nick, I've only had 1 offroad outing and < 2 weeks of slow commuting since last May, well, certainly since last November Anyone know if the Volunteer has secure bike storage?...

I want photos and video of it. I shall be nodding in general directions with my new almost-HD bullet helmet cam with lanc remote wot I have been testing on this week's commutes. Bought after discussion with a Volvo and the ATC5K had showed it couldn't cut the mustard. We need a filming smilie! And offloading the footage to someone who knows what to do with it
