An astounding time Matt. Well done. Roadietony won't be happy and Barrie had better get some training in if he wants to avoid getting knocked off the top spot! (I'd better get some in too - at this rate I'm going to be falling off the bottom of the table...)

Blimey, there's been some super-fast times recently. Hats off to Davebus & Matt!
Feeling like I need to dust of the mtb and give this a punt again sometime soon, the Box Hill Road 'leaderboard' is rather under-populated by comparison.

Read the earlier posts and love a challenge;-) I had a small window of opportunity this afternoon and achieved a coronary inducing 8mins 10secs with a spd detachment an agonising 30yards form the end! I couldn't use my legs for about 10 minutes after though. I weigh 105kgs and was on a spesh rockhopper. Hope to join you on a ride soon. :-)

First run up under the clock, not a quick time by comparison but good to have set a benchmark. Fully geared, next time I'm out there on the SS will give it a go too, should be a combination of a quicker time and more pain!

Well done with the time Keith. I can't wait to see how you do on the SS. On a slightly different but related subject, I was chatting to Felix (who started the Boxhill challange thread) and I mentioned that my recent personal fastest time was timed from the bottom of the chalk track at the beginning of the Zigzag rd until the track ended at the road next to the tea rooms as shown in Yellow in the 'sat image' as shown below. Felix's times for this challenge finished in the tea rooms carpark along the path marked in red on the 'Sat image' as soon as his front wheel touches the carpark. If this is the case then my posted fastest time is wrong and from looking at the image it looks like anything from 3 to 10 seconds could be deducted from my time. This then begs the questions 1: Who else has timed them selves to the road marked on the image in yellow? 2: What is the best way of working out the time to deduct so that peoples times can be adjusted?

What is the best way of working out the time to deduct so that peoples times can be adjusted? I propose a 'no adjustments' rule. Just do it again once we all understand where the timing starts and finishes (not that it makes much difference to my positioning).

I must admit I did wonder about the start/finish points....took it road to road.
Terry, not around Friday, but may well join you and Dave on Wednesday.

I suggest you all train a bit harder and do it 30 sec faster than the fastest time..that way you dont need to worry about 3 - 10 sec hahahahahahahahahahahah

Out of interest though how many of the people who have posted (approx 10) have timed them selves to the road or to the Carpark?

Who else has timed them selves to the road marked on the image in yellow? Not that I have any times for this year yet, but I'm with you Dave and do the yellow route, then come into the back car park by the proper entrance. I think the red route is rather 'off piste' and has only come about recently (< 5 years? ). I've never used it (and I don't mean that in a Landis way). Cas, quite a lot of (for example) Le Tour is flat. Does that mean they shouldn't time those bits?

You're right Huey finishing at the road is more natural I know that Terry finishes there also and if Sue does the same? Thats nearly half of the people that have posted times finishing at the road.

Starting behind and chasing Dave Bus up the hill was worth at least 10/15 seconds to me. Next time Dave I start quicker and let you chase me before I blow up, I am sure that you can take another 15 secs of your time. Well done to both Keith and Dave Bus who both took a chunk out of their previous times. Keith by over a min. Last year I was marginally quicker than Dave Bus this year I can't get near him. Dave you need to start eating pies again and put that 9 kilo back on

Whilst we're splitting hairs about the route, can I just clarify if is is a ROLLING start at the bottom.
Even though I doubt i'll get below 9 minutes (never timed myself) I only expect to try this once and don't want to have to do it again !
Amazing times you guys, respect

Cheers Beano, Yes I did a rolling start (as usual) and finished in the carpark (as pictured in the photo above on the Red dot) as per Felixs original specs.

Was amazed to realise I hadn't ridden up Box Hill off-road all year, but all the road miles are obviously starting to pay off. Reckon a sub-6 could be possible...
