Anyone have any experience/an opinion on this stuff compared to hard shell pads?
Cheers.

It's mostly about the fit. I have had 2 sets of 661 Kyle straight knees and the first were great. The second make me raw as hell. I have d30 ones now and I hardly know they are there. However I suspect on a big slide they might ride up.

I hadn't quite finished...
So they at least get worn more but I can't yet report on wether they stay in place on a hard stack (and hopefully won't get the chance!).

Look at the IXS stuff, IMO lightweight and good protection, good value too. Will any of these fit over your plaster tho

Thank you all. Assuming the NockOut stuff is similar in nature to the Sas-Tec? looks good, cheers. I suspect getting it over the plaster will be no more difficult than some people experience squeezing their egos into their helmet.

+1 for the 661 d30's As you might expect, I have tested them in a few 'offs' and they've stayed in place. They do size up quite large, I feel. I have the mediums, and I need to really stretch the velcro across just above the knee to stop them sliding down on bumpy/rocky terrain. They can be worn a little looser in the soft 'n loamy Surrey hills. Mind you, my legs are girlie thin (but look good in stockings !!!)

Just about everyone I've spoke to, from random man on the train to LBS has put these forward. We could well have a winner. Cheers again. (but look good in stockings !!!) What size heels you rocking? you can get more calf definition if you go for 120mm+ ;D

i picked up a pair of Raceface Ambush D3o kneepads for £35 on sale and can say they're the most comfortable ever, you don't notice them after a while and the D3o material seem to offer great protection whereas i managed to still bruise my knees wearing standard soft shell pads
