sounds great and I would love to enter but as I am only likely to get the chance to do one weeks riding in France next year (due to cost and/or family and/or work committments) then I prefer to be an 'international freerider' riding downhill rather than up!

Hence my 2010 Alps/Les Arcs thread!

Have you booked through an operator Cas? If so, any recommendations etc?

Don't think I'll be able to spare the full week off for the Les Arcs trip unfortunately so currently looking into other shorter summer cycling options..

I got my entry through one of the Pro Teams, which I cannot name at the moment. Organised Accomodation privately

If you want number only try Sport Tours, but package wise they are shit

Cylomundo are very good , as are CyleFit a small Austarlian Outfit called BikeSTyle Tours are also good

Rob...u be ok its only for one day...

Rob, you can lend my road bike for a few days if you want to do it. Would not want to stop a man and his cycling.
Flix / Cas, If I start to use this road bike I have just got from Bruce, might be interested next year. It looks a real killer, dont think I could do it this year even if I was not doing Les Arcs.

I reckon Terry, it can't be a whole lot tougher than the SDW - about the same distance, the extra thousand metres of climbing vs being on the road ought to about cancel each other out. Or something.

Riding the big Alpine climbs is a whole lot harder than the SDW. I've done both.

I'm not going to do the Etape but some of the Italian Grand Fondo's. They are great events. Not sure which one yet but there are plenty to choose from.

Hi Flix

Cold hard realism is much better now than blowing up half way round - I've seen many people underestimate the challenge.

The Etape route looks great though. I'm sure (with loads of training) you'll enjoy it. Plenty easier than the Marmotte route.

Yep my tongue was firmly in cheek with my last post. Frankly I'm bricking myself at the thought of it.

Cas - have gone with French Cycling Holidays - apart from anything I liked the fact they would take your bike out for you. Yep would deffo be good to have you as a training partner, cheers.
